FaceTime
We’re losing sight we’re losing touch we’re losing focus, press and hold down to focus. Focus, on what’s in front of you in your hand. Your life you’re online it is a lifeline for anyone to see you and ask how you are, you’re fine. You’re not fine you need peace of mind you need time. Time to yourself away from the world you are logged into. To everyone else you look like a self-starter, online kick starter you look great you look healthy you look happy, but do you ever look up? Up from the spider web in your hand at the hand reaching down to pull you up from its trap we are trapped in a world where the furthest distance between two people is a thumb stretch away we need time away. This world is becoming smaller, our egos, taller, with the growing number of friends that are automatically counted and contained on a list we look through to see if there’s anyone we missed. Look up. Away from twitter and turn your ears to the titter of birds atop trees put down your phone for just a second and let the world feel a little bigger. There is still much exploring left to do. Do not let yourself be overcome, become your own person, not a list of personality traits listed in your online biography. We are biology, not technology.
Put down your phone and listen, let it sink in the boat, is sinking and there are virtual sharks swimming in that water. The first of us? We’ve already fallen into their virtual world where virtual reality is becoming a virtual escape from our reality. You know, the one we put so little effort into. The one we shortened from face to face time to FaceTime. These are our vices which our devices deceive us into believing they themselves are the best de-vice from the destruction they wrought upon the technological devout and the deserters alike. It’s like, totally the thing to do.
Our best lives start when we look up. Up past the Cloud to the clouds and the views from above it is quite the view from up there, I promise you. You, who have never left your bubble you, who have never stood on the edge, you, who have never been alone. Not really, not when you have so many friends on your list added by a click click click click-bait. That’s the only news being read online. Did you see who so and so married did you see what so and so said about such and such have you seen what what’s his name did? Have you basked in the sunrise? Have you seen the wind blow breath into leaves inspiring them to dance? Have you seen the stars? Have you seen all the stars, that don’t live in Hollywood the stars that brighten the sky when they rise on a dark night and not in The Dark Knight Rises? Have you seen the goddamn stars? If you have, you wouldn’t be keeping your conscious contained in a small silicon screen.
